A country home away from home
The award-winning Hartnoll Hotel is nestled on the edge of Exmoor National Park in the delightful Exe Valley in Devon. With stunning decor, sumptuous fabrics, plenty of space to relax, eat and drink and exemplary customer service, it is the perfect place to relax with friends and family or meet with colleagues.
Claire Carter bought the Hartnoll in 2007, having always wanted a hotel of her own, and spent just over two years restoring it. She still buys for the house at auctions and flea markets, which is where many of the pictures, candlesticks and old doors you will notice came from.
The thinking has stayed the same since: the comfort of a boutique hotel with the easy welcome of a Devon country house. For weddings, that means no formula. Each one is planned as its own day, and everyone who comes is looked after as our guest.

Stay for all of it
A hotel wedding does not have to start at the ceremony and end at midnight. Here is how the days around it can run, from the night before to breakfast the morning after.

Get ready without leaving
There is a hair salon in the hotel, and Spa Maroc has a Bride and Bubbly package for the morning itself.
iii. The ceremony
Under the Pergoda, or in the Atrium
Vows in the garden with your guests on the lawn, or inside under the Atrium’s glass roof. If it rains, we move the ceremony inside. Not a problem.

Cooked by the restaurant kitchen
Up to 100 guests in the Atrium, eating food made to the same standard as a dish ordered from our restaurant menu.
v. The evening
Your own bar, music until midnight
The Atrium, the Sitting Room and a private bar are yours for the evening, with live music until midnight.

Breakfast in the conservatory
Breakfast comes with every room and is served in courses. Meet everyone in the conservatory and go over the day again.

A wedding for a hundred is where hotel food usually slips. Not here: the chefs who cook for our restaurant every evening cook your wedding breakfast, to the same standard.
